Abstract [en]

This study presents different methods and facts picked from different scientific sources that discuss a common topic among schools all around the world. The purpose of this study is to highlight the newly arrived migrant students in Swedish schools and how they can be included in the social science subjects in the most effective way in the years of elementary school . At the beginning of 2015 the incoming number of migrant children and adolescents of school-age rose. In the long on-going debate on new immigrants, the swedish media and public focus lay their eyes predominantly on asylum seekers from Afghanistan or Syria which comes from conflict zones. For schools, the increasing number of newcomers with no or little proficiency of Swedish currently poses a big challenge, even though new immigrant students at school are barely a new phenomenon, but actually a permanent one. In this work we examine the potential of a theoretical framework of integration of new immigrant students to the social science subject in the primary years.
