Abstract [sv]

Syftet med föreliggande studie var att beskriva hur män och kvinnor upplever den traumatiska händelsen och utvecklandet av posttraumatiskt stress syndrom.Litteraturstudien baseras på nio vetenskapliga artiklar från olika traumatiska händelser där män och kvinnor var inblandade. Resultaten analyseras och resulterar i fyra teman. Dessa teman är känslomässiga upplevelser (affektiva), beteendeförändringar, existentiella/sociala upplevelser och psykofysiologiska upplevelser. Det man kan konstatera är att dessa individer har en sänkt livskvalitet och problem i sitt dagliga

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to describe how men and women experience the traumatic event and in the aftermath the development of posttraumatic stress disorder.The literature study based on nine scientific articles/studies, were the focus was on men and women and their experience of the event, and the aftermath. The result is analyst and presented in four different themes. The themes are Emotional experiences, Behavioural changes, Existential/social experiences and Psycho physiological experiences/changes.We can conclude that individuals with PTSD experience a lower life quality and significant problems in their daily life.
