Det har börjat uppmärksammas att sexualiteten är en viktig del av livskvaliteten för patienter med förvärvad hjärtsjukdom. Det är känt att dessa patienter har minskad sexuell lust, sexuell frekvens, sexuell tillfredsställelse och ökad förekomst av sexuell dysfunktion. Sexualiteten hos patienter med medfödd hjärtsjukdom skulle kunna vara lika påverkad. Det holistiska synsättet präglar sjuksköterskans omvårdnadsarbete, vilket inkluderar den sexuella hälsan. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur samlevnad och sexualitet påverkas hos personer med hjärtsjukdom samt hur sjuksköterskan kan skapa dialog kring dessa frågor. Litteraturstudie var den metod som tillämpades. Tio artiklar valdes ut efter strukturerad databassökning samt granskning. Resultatet visade att samlevnaden och sexualiteten blir förändrad av hjärtsjukdom på olika sätt. Personer födda med hjärtsjukdom upplever ett mer otillfredsställt sexualliv än personer med förvärvad hjärtsjukdom. Depression var förekommande. Patienter med hjärtsjukdom fick oftast ingen eller annars knapphändig information och rådgivning kring sexualitet av sjukvårdspersonalen. Sjuksköterskorna kände sig obekväma i att föra en dialog kring dessa ämnen då de upplevs ”för” privata. Vårdpersonal efterfrågar modeller som underlättar för dessa samtal samt mer kunskap. De sjuksköterskor som samtalade i ämnet var vidareutbildade samt hade längre yrkeserfarenhet.

It has been noticed that sexuality is an important part of life quality to patients with acquired heart disease. It is known that these patients have lower sexual lust, sexual frequency, satisfaction and increased presence of sexual dysfunction. Sexuality amongst patients with congenital heart disease should also be prone to have these effects. The holistic way forms the nurse’s caretaking work, which includes the sexual health. The purpose of this study was to investigate how coexistence and sexuality is affected in people with heart disease and how the nurse can create a dialog with this line of questions. Literature review was the chosen method. Ten articles were selected after a structured database search, screening included. The result showed that coexistence and sexuality become affected by heart disease in different ways. People with congenital heart disease experience a more dissatisfied sexuality than people with acquired heart disease. Mental depression occurred. Patients with heart disease were given scarce or no information neither counseling concerning sexuality by medical staff. The nurses felt uncomfortable in leading a dialog concerning these topics, because it felt “too” personal. Medical staff request guidelines that can help simplify having these conversations and an increase in knowledge. The nurses who did have these conversations had a higher education and seniority within the profession.
