Abstract [sv]

Det har framkommit klagomål att sjuksköterskeutbildningen blivit alltför teoretisk och att nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor har brister gällande basala kunskaper relaterat till hälso- och sjukvårdens behov. Denna problematik utgör utgångspunkt för den empiriska studien som är utförd i syfte att beskriva nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av ett traineeprogram samt hur det påverkar deras upplevda kompetens och trygghet i yrkesrollen. Fem sjuksköterskor som genomgått ett traineeprogram har genom intervjuer berättat om sina erfarenheter av programmet och om hur de tror det påverkat dem själva och deras yrkesroll. Genom kvalitativ innehållsanalys framkom det att de under sin tid i programmet fått se och vara med om mer än vad de troligtvis hade fått om det inte genomgått programmet. Det gjorde att de kände sig väl förberedda för sin framtid inom yrkeskåren och redo för nya utmaningar.

Abstract [en]

Active health care professionals find that the nurse program has come to rely too heavily on theory, and there is a perception in the field that newly graduated nurse’s lack certain basic skills. Based on this information, this empirical study was conducted to see how newly graduated nurses experience a trainee programme and how it affect the competence and their confidence in their nursingroles. Five nurses who have completed the trainee programme was interviewed about their experiences from the program and how they thought it has influenced them and how it has affected their nursingrole. Through qualitative content analysis it emerged that the nurses, during their time in the program, saw and experienced more than they were likely to do without it. The result was that they felt well prepared for their future in the profession and ready for new challenges.
