Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka hur barnperspektivet implementeras och realiseras i Socialtjänsten. Uppsatsen är baserad på två frågeställningar: Hur använder och tillämpar socialsekreterarna sig av barnperspektivet i handläggningsprocessen? Använder de sig av några hjälpmedel eller ”arbetsverktyg” för att tillämpa barnperspektivet? För att svara på uppsatsen syfte och frågeställningar, användes en kvalitativ metod. Semi-strukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med fyra socialsekreterare inom avdelningen för ekonomiskt bistånd i en av Malmös stadsdelar. Uppsatsens resultat visar att respondenterna är för tillfället igång med att tillämpa ett nytt arbetsverktyg för att integrera ett barnperspektiv i deras handläggningsprocess. Arbetsverktyget har fört med sig en ständig diskussion på avdelningen. Resultatet visar även hur socialsekreterarna beaktar barnets bästa och barnets inställning i handläggningsprocessen. Barnets bästa har oftast tidigare beaktats när socialsekreteraren ska bevilja en skuld till en familj. Socialsekreterarna i studien försöker redan från början tillämpa barnets bästa i handläggningsprocessen. Enligt respondenterna fungerar inhämtningen av barnets inställning dåligt i deras handläggningsprocess, men det nya arbetsverktyget ska försöka förebygga detta.

This paper aims to examine how children’s perspective is implemented and realized in social services. The study is based on two issues: How do social workers use and apply a child’s perspective in the administrative process? Do they use any aids or tools to apply a child’s perspective? To answer the studies’ purpose and issues, a qualitative method was used. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four social workers within the Department of financial assistance in one of Malmös’ neighborhoods. The result of the study shows that the respondents are at the moment applying a new tool to integrate a children’s perspective in their administrative process. The tool has brought a constant discussion to the Department. The results also show how the social workers take in account the best interest of the child and the child’s attitude in the administrative process. The best interest of the child has before mostly been taken in account when the social worker is granting a debt to a family. The social workers in the study are trying to apply the child’s best interest from the start in the administrative process. According to the respondents the gathering of children’s attitude works poorly in their administrative process, but the new tool will try to facilitate this.
