Bakgrund: Hud mot hudkontakt är nödvändigt för att främja närhet och anknytning hos det prematurt födda barnet samt förstärker föräldrarollen. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att belysa män och kvinnors, dvs föräldrar till för tidigt födda barn och deras upplevelser av att använda metoden hud mot hud. Metod: Kvalitativ ansats där data samlades in genom intervjuer och analyserades med hjälp av en tematisk innehållsanalys. I studien ingick sammanlagt tolv informanter från södra Sverige vilka intervjuades under barnets vårdtid eller kort därefter. Resultat: Huvudresultatet mynnade i fyra kategorier ”Motstridiga känslor”, ”Viktigt för barnets utveckling”, ”Viktigt för anknytning och närhet” och ”Betydelsen av personalens kompetens och stöd”. Vidare ledde dessa till sex underkategorier ”Tidskrävande”, ”Barnfokuserad”, ”Förstärkte föräldrarollen”, ”Effekter av hud mot hud på föräldrarna”, ”Att försöka njuta och leva i nuet” och ”Betydelsen av miljön runt omkring”. Konklusion: Både kvinnor och män upplevde att dessa blivit föräldrar på riktigt när de fick utöva hud mot hudkontakt. Metoden hade även positiva effekter på föräldrarna. Vidare framkom att information var av stor betydelse och specialistsjuksköterskan och dess team bör eftersträva att ge upprepad information.

Background: Skin-to-skin contact is necessary to promote closeness and attachment to the prematurely born baby and to strengthen the parenting role. Aim: The purpose of the study was to highlight women and men ́s, namely parents to early-born children and their experiences of using the skin-to-skin method. Method: Qualitative approach where data was collected by interviews and analysed by a thematic content analysis. The study included a total of twelve informants from south of Sweden, who were interviewed during their child’s care period or shortly after. Result: The main result led to the four following categories “Conflicting feelings”, “The importance of skin-to- skin for the child’s development”, “Important for attachment and closeness” and “The importance of competent staff and their support”. Furthermore, these led to six subcategories “Time-consuming”, “Child-focused”, “Strengthening the parent role”, “The impact skin-to-skin have on the parents”, “Trying to enjoy and live in the present” and “The importance of the environment”. Conclusion: Both women and men felt that them had become parents for real when they were allowed to use skin-to-skin contact. The method also had positive effects on the parents. Furthermore, it emerged that information was of great importance and the specialist nurse and team should strive to providing repeated information.
