Abstract [sv]

Multipel skleros (MS) är en neurologisk sjukdom som drabbar främst unga individer. MS är en kronisk sjukdom och det finns fortfarande ingen behandling som kan bota sjukdomen. Behandlingen består mestadels av att minska sjukdomsaktiviteten. Att få diagnosen MS påverkar naturligtvis livskvaliteten hos en människa. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att belysa vilka faktorer som påverkar livskvaliteten hos patienter med multipel skleros. Resultatet baseras på tio vetenskapliga artiklar som är kritiskt granskade och visar att de flesta patienter med MS självskattar en sämre livskvalitet än övriga individer. Depression var en av de faktorer som bidrog till en sämre självskattad livskvalitet hos patienter med MS. Slutsatser Patienter med MS skattar en funktionell psykologisk och fysisk hälsa lika högt.

Abstract [en]

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disease, which affects young people. MS is a chronic disease and there’s still no cure. The treatment is predominantly aimed to reduce disease activity. To have the diagnosis MS will certainly affect a human being’s quality of life. The aim of this literature study was to illuminate factors that affect quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis. The study was based on ten scientific articles. The finding shows that most MS patients estimate poorer quality of life than other people. Depression was one of the factors, which contributed to poorer quality of life in MS patients’. Conclusion MS patients estimate a functional psychological and physical equally.
