Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to describe nurses experiences of working with kangaroo care in Swedish neonatal care. Earlier research is limited regarding nurses experiences of kangaroo care in a Swedish context. Semi-structured interviews with seven nurses have been carried out in a neonatal unit in the southern of Sweden. Verbatim transcripts were produced. The transcriptions were analysed using a qualitative content analysis. The results of this study fall into three main categories; to support attachment, to experience inspiration and to experience limitation. The conclusions were that the nurses described the benefits of kangaroo care. The difficulties they described were related to the environment.
