Bakgrund: Prematur födsel är ofta kopplat till en rad olika konsekvenser både på kort och på lång sikt. Det kan vara allt ifrån svåra lungsjukdomar och hjärnblödningar till problem med vikt, tillväxt och utvecklingsförseningar. Prematurfödda barn och deras föräldrar vårdas ofta en längre tid på neonatalavdelning innan de får komma hem. Väl hemma är det sedan barnhälsovården som tar över uppföljningen av familjen tills dess att barnet blir fem år gammalt. Barnhälsovården bedriver en hälsofrämjande verksamhet med fokus på det friska. Tidigare forskning visar att föräldrar upplever en bristande kunskap om prematuritet bland sjuksköterskor som arbetar inom barnhälsovården. Barnhälsovårdssjuksköterskornas erfarenheterna av att möta prematurfödda barns föräldrar är däremot sparsamt efterforskat. Syfte: Syftet var att belysa BHV-sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att möta föräldern/föräldrarna till ett prematurfött barn. Metod: Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med 17 BHV-sjuksköterskor. Materialet analyserades genom en innehållsanalys. Resultat: Resultatet beskrevs i fyra kategorier Det var fördelaktigt med god kunskap i mötet, Oro kunde försvåra mötet, BHV-sjuksköterskan hade strategier för att främja mötet och Det finns potential att förbättra mötet. Slutsats: Det finns begränsat med forskning kring BHV-sjuksköterskans erfarenheter av att möta prematurfödda barns föräldrar. Studiens resultat visar dock att det finns flera utvecklingsmöjligheter för att förbättra mötet såsom ett gemensamt överlämningsmöte, förbättrad utbildning och ett ökat samarbete med neonatal hemsjukvård.

Background: Premature birth is often linked to a variety of consequences on short and long term. It can be anything from severe lung diseases and brain haemorrhages to problems with weight, growth and developmental delays. The premature child and their parents are often treated for a longer time at the neonatal ward before they can return home. Once at home the child health care takes over the follow-up of the family until the child turns five years old. Child health care conducts and promotes health activities with focus on the healthy child. Previous research shows that parents experience a lack of knowledge concerning prematurity among health care nurses. On the other hand, the meeting between the child health care nurse and the parents of premature born children is limitedly investigated. Aim: The aim was to illustrate the experiences of child health nurses of the encounter with a parent/parents of a premature born child. Method: Semi-structured interviews were made with 17 child health care nurses. The material was analyzed with a content analysis. Result: The result was described in four categories It was beneficial to have good knowledge in the meeting, Concerns could make the meeting more difficult, The child health care nurse had strategies to promote the meeting and There is potential to improve the meeting. Conclusion: There is limited research regarding the child health care nurses’ experiences in the encounter with parents to premature born children. However, the result shows that there are several development opportunities to improve the encounter such as an in common handover meeting, improved education and an increased cooperation with the neonatal home care.
