The aim of this study was to research social workers’ experiences of the efficiency in their work within the field of financial assistance. Furthermore, the study aims to examine whether the requirements of efficiency affect the way they execute their work. To fulfil the purpose of the study, we have chosen to immerse ourselves in three concepts – namely efficiency, quality and productivity. In further order to fulfil the study’s purpose, qualitative interview has been held with five social workers who’s got 1-20 years’ experience in the field. The main result we found within the result of this study is that there are different objectives in the workplace between politicians and social workers. Further results of this study show that the social workers experience that when there’s a demand for efficiency in terms of an increased productivity it results in an inferior quality of the work that gets performed. This due to the main focus shifting to accomplishing as many cases as possible, in order to being considered as productive.
