Det finns god kunskap om verksamma behandlingar för hypertoni. Trots det är följsamhet till behandling av hypertoni bristfällig och många patienter uppnår inte ett kontrollerat blodtryck. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att granska och sammanställa vetenskapliga artiklar om sjuksköterskans möjlighet att påverka följsamheten hos patienter med primär hypertoni gällande omvårdnadsåtgärder och läkemedelsbehandling. Utifrån syftet utformades två frågeställningar för att nå en djupare förståelse för ämnet. Metoden utgjordes av en systematisk litteraturstudie bearbetad genom Goodmans sju steg, vilka är utformade för en forskningsprocess. Studien baserades på 13 vetenskapliga artiklar vilka framtagits genom databassökning i databaserna PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar samt PsychINFO. Resultatet av artikelgranskningen visade att genom utbildning och ökad kunskap om påverkansfaktorer kan sjuksköterskans möjlighet att utforma behandling och möta patienten förbättras, vilket kan leda till en förbättrad följsamhet. Slutsats för litteraturstudien var att sjuksköterskan behöver kunskap om de faktorer som påverkar patienters följsamhet samt utbildning för att kunna möta patienten och utforma behandlingen utifrån dennes specifika behov.

There is good knowledge of the active treatments for hypertension. Despite that adherence to the treatment of hypertension are poor and many patients do not achieve a controlled blood pressure. The aim of this study was to examine and summarize scientific articles on the ability of the nurse to influence adherence in patients with primary hypertension, current nursing interventions and pharmacotherapy. Two questions were formulated to reach a deeper understanding of the topic. The method was a systematic literature processed by Goodman's seven steps which are designed for a research process. The study was based on 13 scientific articles, which were derived by database searching in the databases PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar and PsychINFO. The result of the review showed that several factors affect patients' adherence to treatment. Education and increased knowledge of factors that can influence patients can improve nurses' ability to design treatment and improve patient encounters which could lead to improved adherence. The conclusion from this review was that the nurse need knowledge of the factors affecting patient adherence and education to meet patients and formulate treatment based on their specific needs.
