Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim with this literature study is to describe how tailored group education is carried out to patients with diabetes type 2. Ten qualitative articles form the result. One of the fundamental factors is the relationship between patient and educator and it should continue during longer time. Relatives do also need to participate in the education in order to help the patient with life style changes. Group education is an excellent occasion to learn of other experiences and a cultured like adapta¬tion with simple tools cooking together can help the patient to better self-care. In the creation of a tailored patient education pedagogical as well as psychological competence is needed, besides knowledge about counselling skills and medical knowledge. To involve other professionals can also be of great value. This literature study gives an insight in that patient education is a complex and multifaceted task.
