Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Parkinson's disease is a chronic progressive neurological disease that affects both men and women. To suffer from a chronic illness entails changes in life for the individual. There is currently no cure but with proper treatment, life can improve significantly. The aim of this literature study was to describe how individuals with Parkinson´s disease experience and manage their changed life situation, based on 12 scientific articles. The result shows that it may take time for the individual to come to an understanding about their illness. Knowledge is an important element to increase the understanding about the course of the illness but it can also stress the individual.
