Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Objective: The objective with this study was to elucidate what is affecting the nurse´s perception on safety with blood sampling in children. Method: The study had a qualitative approach in which data were collected using nine interviews to answer the objective of the study. The interviews were transcribed shortly after each completed interview. Data were analysed using a content analysis inspired by Burnard (1991) in which three categories and eight subcategories were developed. Result: The result showed that the nurses felt that their security could be affected by various aspects in a both positive and negative direction. The experience was an important part, including personal experiences, and to receive help of colleagues and their experiences. Furthermore it was shown that blood sampling situation played a major role both in because of the method chosen and the end result of the blood collection. The parent and the child also had a major impact on the nurse´s perception of security. Conclusion: The result showed that there were several factors about the blood sampling that could affect the nurse´s perception of safety, both positively and negatively.
