Examensarbetet grundar sig i perspektiv hämtade från både idrottsvetenskapen och forskningsområdet socialt arbete. Utgångspunkt för undersökningen är en utvald parasportförening i Malmö. Centrala frågeställningar i studien är kopplade till föreningens påverkan på medlemmarna och sociala aspekter som gemenskap och integration. Frågeställningar har även riktats mot föreningens organiseringsform. För att svara på syfte och frågeställningar har semistrukturerade intervjuer med både personal och aktiva medlemmar genomförts. Undersökningens resultat visar tydligt att socialt umgänge och gemenskap är centralt för föreningsmedlemmarna. Utbildad och kompetent personal och idrottsledare ses som en förutsättning för medlemmarnas personliga utveckling. Åsikter om parasportens organisering skiljer sig åt och det framgår tydligt att elitidrottare har en positivare inställning till idrottslig integrering jämfört med motionsidrottare. Avslutningsvis framkommer det klart att tillgängligheten i samhället bör öka för att målgruppen på ett bättre sätt ska kunna nyttja de positiva effekter idrott kan medföra.

The thesis is based on perspectives from both sport science and the research field social work. The starting point for the survey is a chosen parasport club in Malmö. The questions at issue in the study is related to the club ́s impact on the members, social aspects, and the club ́s organizational form. In order to respond to the purpose of the thesis and the questions at issue, semi structured interviews with both staff and active members, have been conducted. The results of the study clearly show that social relations and fellowship are central to the members of the club. Educated and competent staff and sport leaders are seen as a prerequisite for members ́ personal development. Opinions about the organization of parasport differs and it is clear that athletes, compared to exercisers, have a more positive attitude towards sporting integration. In conclusion, accessibility in society should increase in order for the target group to better utilize the positive effects sport can induce.
