Bakgrund: Hur nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor växer in i den professionella yrkesrollen och hur kompetensen utvecklas under de första året i yrkeslivet, är ett ämne som fått mycket uppmärksamhet de senaste åren. Det har identifierats ett behov av stöd för de nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskorna för att underlätta övergången från utbildning till yrkeslivet. Dock har kvaliteten och kvantiteten av stöd och vägledning från handledarna upplevts bristfällig. Flertal länder i världen har utformat strukturerade stödprogram med tillgång till handledare eller mentorer för att hjälpa de nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskorna under sina första år i yrkeslivet. Syfte: Att undersöka effekter av stödprogram för de nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskornas yrkeskompetens och arbetssituation. Metod: En litteraturstudie som grundat sig på tio kvantitativa studier. Studierna har lästs, granskats och analyserats för att sedan sammanställas. Databassökningar gjordes i Pubmed och Cinahl. Resultat: Handledning- och mentorskapsprogram, simuleringsprogram, introduktionsprogram och övergångsprogram var de stödprogram som studierna använt sig av. Genom att gå ett stödprogram visade resultaten på ökad omvårdnadskompetens, minskad stress, förbättrat självförtroende, ökad trivsel och färre uppsägningar bland nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor. Konklusion: Programmets längd, den pedagogiska kompetensen hos handledaren och tillgången till praktiska övningar visades sig vara viktiga beståndsdelar för att utveckla yrkeskompetensen och förbättra arbetssituationen för de nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskorna.

Background: How newly graduated nurses grow in their professional skills and how their professional expertise develops during the first year of working life. This is a subject matter has received much attention in recent years. It has been known and identified a need for support for the newly graduated nurses to facilitate the transition from education to work. However, the quality of support and guidance from the supervisors has experienced deficiency. Many countries in the world have designed structured support programs with access to tutors and mentors to help newly graduated nurses during their first years of working life. Aim: To investigate the effects of support programs for the newly graduated nurse`s professional competence and working situation. Method: A literature study that included ten quantitative studies. The studies have been reviewed, examined and analyzed to then be compiled. Database searches were made in Pubmed and Cinahl. Result: Supervision and mentoring programs, simulation programs, introductory programs and transition programs were the support programs that the studies used. By attending a support program, the results showed increased nursing skills, reduced stress, improved self-confidence, increased well-being and fewer layoffs among newly graduated nurses. Conclusion: The length of the program, the pedagogical competence of the supervisor and the availability of practical exercises proved to be important components to increase the professional competence and improve the work situation for the newly qualified nurses'.
