Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This paper highlights the difficulties that can arise in people with multiple sclerosis. The aim was to describe how patients perceive these difficulties. With the help of SBU's seven stages, seven qualitative articles have been selected. They have been examined and results are presented in three main categories: disease effects, different strategies to cope with MS and treatment from health professionals. The results show that MS patients lose abilities as memory, concentration, and operating tempo and have an experience of fatigue. These problems increase the importance of social contacts to cope with work. While social contacts tend to decrease rather than increase, which means that many MS patients experience loneliness. Methods for dealing with communication barriers can be to plan their lives and yet be flexible, write down important things. Individual information from the nursing staff was needed to feel well-treated in health care contact.
