Abstract [sv]

Enligt senast sammanställd statistik avled 91820 människor i Sverige år 2007. Vem som bör lämna ett dödsbud bestäms i enskilda fall med utgångspunkt i att de anhöriga bör visas hänsyn och omtanke. En sjuksköterska är oftast den person som möter de anhöriga då de får ett dödsbud. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur sjuksköterskan bör hantera ett dödsbud till anhöriga. Studien har genomförts som en litteraturstudie. Studiens resultat grundar sig på tio vetenskapliga artiklar framtagna ur databaserna Pubmed och Cinahl. Resultatet presenterar viktiga grundläggande delar i hur dödsbud bör hanteras. Dessa delar presenteras i följande teman: Kommunikation, information, avsked, miljö och faciliteter. Slutsatser av studien presenterar olika aspekter på hur ett dödsbud till anhöriga bör hanteras.

Abstract [en]

According to latest statistics compiled 91820 people died in Sweden in 2007. Who should deliver the message of death is determined in individual cases on the basis that the families should be shown consideration and kindness. A nurse is usually the person who meets the family when they get the message of death. The purpose of this study was to investigate how nurses should manage the delivery of the death message to the families. The study was conducted as a literature review. The study results are based on ten scientific articles from the databases Pubmed and Cinahl. The result presents important fundamental elements of how message of death should be handled. These elements are presented in the following themes: communication, information, farewell, and environmental facilities. The conclusion of the study presents various aspects of how message of death to families should be handled.
