How does the social secretary look at his / her work situation? Load and terms : A qualitative study on social secretary's views on workload (English)
Abstract [en]

The study aims to investigate how social secretaries look at their work situation, within the two sections of the Rehab and the Labour Market section. The study also aims to examine the social secretary's views on workload and how they handle it, to find out if there is any difference in the work situation within the Rehab and the Labour market section. The study is based on a qualitative method in which the study consists of information obtained by 4 informants. The study also presents theoretical frameworks where the section consists of KASAM and organizational theory. The information obtained shows that stress and high workload are created which a re reported in the result. According to the information gathered, it turns out that the work situation where high workload, stress depends on, among other things, staff turnover and the time shortage. The results show that the high workload leads to frustrations, lack of sleep, sick leave and concentration difficulties. In the study it also emerges that social secretaries handle stress and high workload by staying longer than their regular working hours and skipping their breaks and lunch breaks. Furthermore, the results show that the social secretary tries to manage the work situation through support with relief from colleagues, manager and psychologist who makes it manageable according to the informants. The result shows how important it is with the collegial support and to have present managers at the workplace for the social secretary to be able to handle the work situation.
