Syftet med föreliggande litteraturstudie var att lyfta fram hur sjuksköterskor bör förhålla sig för att stödja, hjälpa och bemöta de patienter som upplevt en NDU. Fem vetenskapliga artiklar som baseras på vetenskapliga studier och sju litteratur-sammanställningar analyserades. Resultatet kom fram till att utbildning om NDU, är nyckeln till förändrade attityder hos sjuksköterskor. Om en patient som upplevt en NDU blir positivt bemött av en sjuksköterska, som tar sig tid att lyssna aktivt till det patienten berättar, kan patienten få det stöd och den hjälp som kanske behövs för att händelsen ska upplevas som givande.

The aim of the present literature review was to describe how nurses should behave to support, help and face patients who have experienced near death. Five scientific articles and seven review articles were analysed. The result showed that education about NDE, is the key to changed attitudes for the nurses. If a patient who has experienced a NDE gets a positive attitude from a nurse, who has taken the time to listen actively to what the patient tells them, the patient can get the support and help that might be needed to make the experience a pleasant memory.
