Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to describe the contributing factors that affect the experience of quality of life in dialysis dependent patients and if there were any differences in how men and women experience the contributing factors that affect their quality of life. The method was a literature study based on ten scientific articles. The result revealed six different themes; fatigue, adjustment to a life in dialysis, experiences and emotions in relation to suffering, loss of freedom, limitations and transformed relationships. Differences between men and women in their experience of the contributing factors that affect their quality of life were indiscernible. The result of this study can be used to meet these patients with an increased understanding and knowledge of their situation.
