Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Elevers skärmtid ökar i såväl skolan som på fritiden och kan påverka deras hälsa i både positiv och negativ riktning beroende på hur skärmen används. I skolsköterskans uppdrag ingår bl. a. att motivera och vägleda elever till en hälsosam livsstil. Således har skolsköterskan inom ramen för sitt hälsofrämjande arbete en unik möjlighet att vägleda elever i positiv riktning så att de etablerar hälsosamma skärmvanor. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa skolsköterskors erfarenheter gällande förutsättningar för ett hälsofrämjande arbete kring elevers skärmvanor. Metod: Data samlades in genom individuella intervjuer med skolsköterskor (n=12) och analyserades utifrån kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Skolsköterskornas erfarenheter av förutsättningar för det hälsofrämjande arbetet presenterades i fyra kategorier: att vara medveten om elevers skärmvanor, att vara engagerad i elevers skärmvanor, att kunna hantera elevers skärmvanor, att samverka kring elevers skärmvanor. Konklusion: Studiens resultat har synliggjort avsaknad av kunskap och riktlinjer i skolsköterskors hälsofrämjande arbete gällande elevers skärmtid samt att det finns behov av ytterligare forskning inom området.

Abstract [en]

Background: Pupils´ screen time increases in school as well as in leisure time and can affect their health both positively and negatively depending on how the screen is used. In their health promoting work, school nurses have an opportunity to help students create healthy screen usage. Aim: The aim of the study was to illuminate school nurses’ experiences regarding conditions for health promoting work around pupils’ screen habits. Method: Data were collected by individual interviews with school nurses (n = 12) and were analyzed by using manifest qualitative content analysis. Results: School nurses’ experiences of preconditions health promoting work was presented in 4 categories: to be aware of pupils’ screen habits, to be engaged in pupils’ screen habits, being able to handle pupils’ screen habits, to collaborate around pupils’ screen habits. Conclusion: The study’s results have highlighted the lack of knowledge and guidelines in school nurses’ health promotion work regarding pupils’ screen time and that there is a need for further research in the area.
