Malmö högskola: Hälsa och Samhälle, Utbildningsområde omvårdnad, 2006. Amyotrofisk lateralskleros (ALS) är en degenerativ neuromuskulär sjukdom. Den domineras av muskelatrofi och pareser och det finns idag inget botemedel. Behandlingen inriktas därför på att möta behoven som patienterna utvecklar under det snabba sjukdomsförloppet. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att undersöka ALS-patienternas dagliga livssituation och deras upplevelse av livskvalitet och vad det innebär. Litteraturstudien bygger på tio vetenskapliga artiklar. Artiklarna kvalitetsbedömdes utifrån Carlssons och Eimans bedömningsmall för kvalitativa och kvantitativa studier. Vi använde oss av Doris Carnevalis (1999) modell för krav och resurser som referensram. Resultatet visade att fysiska, psykiska, sociala och existentiella faktorer påverkade livskvaliteten på olika sätt och en viktig faktor för patienterna var att kunna kommunicera med sin omgivning. Nursing programme, Malmö University: Health and Society, Department of Nursing, 2006. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative neuromuscular disease. The dominating signs are muscular atrophy and pareses and there is today no cure for the disease. The treatment is therefore concentrated into meeting the patients’ dif-ferent needs, during the fast progression of the disease. The aim of the study is to focus on the ALS-patients daily life and their perceived quality of life. The study is based on ten scientific articles. The articles were quality rated using Carlssons and Eimans ratingscale for qualitative and quantitative studies. We use Doris Carnevalis (1999) model of demand and resources as the frame of refer-ence. The result showed that physical, psychological, social and existential factors affect quality of life in different ways.
