Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Immigration today is happening in Sweden to a great extent and this requires a higher level of demands within the transcultural nursing. The care staffs constantly face new demands in their work. Our literary review is based on facts to make it possible to achieve the aim of the study. The purpose of the study was to focus on immigrants’ experiences of disease and health, and what can be done to improve the care related to their cultural background. The method is a literature review, which is based on critical analysis of scientific articles. The result shows that the cultural values are the most important factors, which affect the immigrant’s expression about health and disease. Cultural values need to be based on knowledge and understanding, in order to ensure optimal caring. . Keywords: Transcultural, nursing, care, culture, respect, immigrants
