I Sverige lever cirka 20 000 stomiopererade personer och varje år tillkommer ett tusental nya patienter. Ordet stomi kommer från det grekiska ordet ”stoma” som betyder mun eller öppning. Inom medicinsk terminologi används ordet för en operativ anlagd förbindelse mellan mag- och tarmkanalen ut genom buken. Det innebär ett stort ingrepp i en människas liv att genomgå en stomioperation och få en colostomi. Detta leder till stor förändring av kroppens funktion samtidigt som det ställer höga krav på patientens fysiska, psykiska och sociala anpassningsförmåga. Sjuksköterskan har till uppgift att ge en god omvårdnad som tillgodoser patientens behov men som även främjar patientens egenvårdkapacitet. En kunskapsrik och väl anpassad information under både den pre- och postoperativa fasen syftar till att underlätta anpassningen till ett liv med stomi. Syftet med litteraturstudien är att undersöka vad som kan definieras som tillfredställande omvårdnad för patienter med colostomi. Studien görs utifrån ett patientperspektiv och är baserad på fem kvantitativa respektive två kvalitativa artiklar. Kategorier som identifierades utifrån artiklarna var förberedelse, delaktighet och anpassning. Resultatet pekade på att varje kategori har betydelse för patientens möjligheter att lättare komma tillbaka till sin vardag och den nya livssituationen med stomi. Currently in Sweden, there are approximately 20 000 colostomy operated people and every year there are about a thousand new patients. The word colostomy originates from the Greek word “stoma” which means mouth or opening. Within the medical terminology the word “stoma” is used to describe an operative connection between the colon and the outside of the stomach. To experience a colostomy means a huge intrusion into a person’s life. It leads to a major change of the body’s function and huge demands on the patient’s physical, psychological and social adaptability. The nurse’s task is to provide a substantial service care which fulfils the patient’s needs and to also support the patient’s efficiency to take care of themselves. Knowledge and information during both the pre- and postoperative phase will help the patient to adapt to a life after colostomy. The purpose of the literature study is to examine what can be defined as good nursing care for patients with colostomy. The study will be taken from the patients’ perspective and is based on five quantitative respectively two qualitative articles from a scientific point of view. The categories that were identified from the articles were: preparations, participations and adaption. The result concluded that each of these categories is essential for the patient to gain an easier way back to a everyday life and accepting the new way of living with a colostomy.
