Abstract [sv]

Wilhelmsson, A. Fysisk aktivitet på recept. Examensarbete i folkhälsovetenskap 10 poäng.

Abstract [en]

Wilhelmsson, A. Exercise on prescription. A qualitative study on health care professional’s view regarding prescribing exercise. Public Health 160 points. Examination paper in public health 10 points. Malmö University: Health and Society, the unit of public Health, 2003. The purpose of this study is to investigate the view of health care professional’s that prescribes exercise had regarding the phenomena. The study is based on semistrucured interviews carried out with health care professional’s in medical centres in Malmö and its surrounding communities. The result shows that health care professional’s have a positive view regarding the phenomena, where they see exercise on prescription as a tool to motivate the patient, but also that exercise on prescription can function as a complement to regular medicine. There are however problems regarding the activity that only the already dedicated and motivated patients show up. There are also problems with the follow up of the patients involved in the project.
