Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study is intended to investigate how Malmö Tourism works to create the destination brand Malmö, and how this is reflected in their digital content. As a first step, a qualitative interview was conducted with the organization which, in combination with a strategy document, was analyzed. As a second step, a qualitative semiotic analysis of visual content was applied, to see how the organization's strategies relate to the pictures. The results have pointed out that the organization's strategies for creating a successful destination brand contradicts with the cosmopolitan idea that one wishes to convey, and that the organization communicates a national imagination rather than a global one.
