Abstract [en]
The purpose of this essay is to examine the activities of the KrAmi program from an intersectional perspective, focusing in particular on how they work with a selection of criminal women's self-understanding, self-esteem, backgrounds and opportunities to find, obtain and retain a job. The essay will consist of, among other things, 6 interviews. Two are with the guides of KrAmi and four with ex-criminal women. Of the four ex-criminal women, two of them have an immigrant background. With my essay I also want to produce the participants' biggest obstacles and their opportunities of finding a job.
To fully understand how the KrAmi-program works, I based my essay around the following questions: How does KrAmi work with strenghtening participants identity, self-esteem and self understandig, how it enables participants to enter labor market, and how the female participants perceive Krami’s efforts.
The study shows that these women percieve their criminal background as the biggest obstacle of actually belonging to a community where they work with other people as they find it really hard to find a job. The women with the immigrant background find it it’s twice as hard of finding a job as they feel their criminal background and immigrant background go hand in hand and therefore bigger obstacles arise. A job means a great deal to the women and without the KrAmi program they would never be able to get an employment or even opportunities for internship, given their underprivileged positions in society.
