Upplevelsemetaforer / Metaphors of experience
Malmö högskola, Faculty of Culture and Society (KS).
2017 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis is to produce a wider understanding on how the animated entertainment Addiction (2015) utilize visual metaphors to generate new insights for the intended audience. As a method for the study a discourse analysis was applied, based on the repressive and progressive discourses which the research material stands in relation to. To examine the connection between these discourses and the material, a visual analysis based on theories concerning metaphors and their function was also used. The thesis resulted in knowledge regarding how the animation is portrayed from the perspective of being addicted due to its style, media and metaphors. These found visual qualities might bring value to film makers and other creators regarding how to depict addiction, but the examination also initiates further research on how this could be done in similar media.
