Detta examensarbete behandlar den sociala hållbarhetsaspekten och utgår ifrån normativa principer för ett områdes utveckling. Arbetet görs tillsammans med Akademiska Hus i Lund, som är ett fastighetsbolag som bygger och förvaltar lokaler för den akademiska världen. Området som ska utvecklas tillhör konceptutvecklingsprojektet ”Kunskapsstråket”, som innebär att utveckla ett attraktivt, levande område, med noder som knyts samman med resten av Lund. Uppsatsen består av två huvudmoment, en teoretisk del och en förstudie. Den teoretiska delen har sin utgångspunkt i teorier kring hållbarhet och olika former av kapital, vilka resulterar i en analysmodell. Förstudien utgör en projektplan för ”Program för social hållbarhetsanalys”, som är ett processverktyg för områdesutveckling. En kvalitativ metod används i detta arbete genom intervjuer. En omfattande litteraturgranskning har gjorts för att få kunskap om ämnet projekt- och processledning samt de olika teorier som tas upp i arbetet. För att få kunskap om Kunskapsstråket har samtal hållits med aktuella personer på Akademiska Hus. För att utforma ett område på ett socialt hållbart sätt används det olika normativa principer som utgångspunkt. Genom dessa principer tas det fram indikatorer som används för att utforma platsen men även för att mäta om den sociala hållbarheten är uppnådd.

This thesis deals with the social aspect of sustainability and is based on normative principles for an area's development. Work in conjunction with the Akademiska Hus in Lund, which is a real estate company that builds and manages facilities for the academic world. The area to be developed is a part of the concept development project "the Knowledge Lane", which means to develop an attractive, vibrant area, with nodes that are connected with the rest of Lund. The essay consists of two main parts, a theoretical part and a pre-study. The theory has its basis in the theories of sustainability and various forms of capital, which results in an analytical model. The pre-study is a project of "Programme for social sustainability analysis", which is a tool for process development area. A qualitative methodology is used in this work through interviews. An extensive literature review has been done to obtain knowledge of the subject, project and process management, as well as the various theories mentioned in the work. To learn about the Knowledge Lane discussions have been held with people at the Akademiska Hus. To define an area in a socially sustainable way, different normative principles have been used as a starting point. These principles are the indicators used to design the site but also for measuring if the social sustainability is achieved.
