Abstract [en]

Sprung from my will of making documentary film I have gained a huge interest in understanding how to plan interviews to get the material I want. This study aims to plunge into the understanding of how filming research interviews affect the participants’ behaviour. Test persons where filmed whilst speaking reflectively about in what way they feel influenced by the presence of a camera, and cameras in general. After the interview they watch the material and reflect upon seeing themselves and on how they felt during the interview. Through analysing the interviews the study then focus on locating and defining how the camera affected the participants and why, finally to discuss in what ways filming an interview can be beneficial or detrimental for research purposes. The results showcased a surprisingly unified struggle amongst the participants with handling the cameras presence in a comfortable way, making them very self- conscious about their body language and general behaviour.
