Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The paper examines how the climate issue is visually presented in two accounts on Instagram. The study is done through a visual analysis where the construction of positive emotions is analyzed. Through critical discourse analysis, the images are put into a broader context, which examines the underlying reasons and the consequences of the identified discourse climate positiveism, which formulates positive emotions regarding the climate issue. The conclusion shows that images which focus on positive emotions can contribute to the severity of the climate issue being reduced and contributing to status quo in the climate issue. The study intends to highlight the significance of images for our perception of reality and the graphic designers responsibility in shaping people's perception.
