Abstract [sv]

In Activity-based workplaces and their effect on motivation and the work environment, the question formulation of how the office's work environment and the employees' motivation to work is affected by activity-based offices. The information has been collected though a qualitative method, in which people working at activity-based workplaces were interviewed. The study shows that the motivation in the majority of cases has been positively affected, but it also appears that certain tasks are better suited to an activity-based approach while some are less suitable. Monotonous tasks are less suitable, while alternating tasks that require creative meetings, discussion and cooperation are better suited. This was made clear after people with monotonous tasks, such as administrative work or tasks where confidential information is handled, experienced the work environment and the high sound levels as a major disturbance which often leads to difficulties in concentrating. People with more varied tasks feel that the work environment facilitated the work and motivated them through increased communication, self-determination and trust from the company.
