Uppsatsen utgår från en intersektionell granskning av ett stadsutvecklingsprojekt i centrala Göteborg och har formen av en fallstudie. Det intersektionella perspektivet syftar till att skapa en helhetsförståelse för hur olika former av förtryck skapas i skärningspunkten mellan maktrelationer baserade på olika diskrimineringsgrunder som till exempel kön, klass, hudfärg och ålder. Utifrån en intersektionell och feministisk utgångspunkt har vi granskat planhandlingar och genomfört intervjuer inom fallstudien för att problematisera stadsutvecklingsprocessen. Intersektionalitet kan användas för att problematisera de begrepp som används, hur tolkningar och prioriteringar görs och användas för att granska, men även komma med förändringsförslag för planeringsprocessen i sin helhet. Uppsatsens huvudsyfte har varit att ta reda på vad ett intersektionellt perspektiv på stadsutveckling kan tillföra för ny kunskap och hur den kunskapen kan påverka planeringen av staden. Det intersektionella perspektivet på fallstudien har lett fram till ett antal lärdomar. Vi menar att det intersektionella perspektivet bidrar till en helhetsförståelse av samhället som går att implementera i alla skalor av stadsutvecklingsprocessen. Eftersom den intersektionella förståelsen är central för hela planeringsprocessen menar vi att den måste finnas med från start. Vi har sett att inte tidigt ha förståelse och kunskap om maktstrukturer utifrån ett intersektionellt perspektiv skapar begränsningar och förhindrar att planera en rättvis stad för alla. Därför är en slutsats av denna uppsats att understryka vikten av att implementera det intersektionella perspektivet under hela planeringsprocessen, och aldrig någonsin reducera frågan om rätten till staden till ett sidointresse.

The thesis is based on an intersectional examination of an urban development project in central Gothenburg. The intersectional perspective aims at creating a comprehensive understanding of how different forms of oppression are created in the intersections of power relations based on different grounds of discrimination such as sex, class, skin color and age. From an intersectional feminist point of view, we have reviewed planning documents and conducted interviews in the case study to problematize the planning process. The main purpose of the thesis has been to find out what kind of new knowledge an intersectional perspective on urban development can create and how that knowledge can influence urban planning. The intersectional perspective on the case study has led to some lessons learned. We mean that the intersectional perspective is an overall understanding of society that can be implemented in all scales of the urban development process. It can be used to examine how concepts are being used and how interpretations and priorities are being made. The intersectional perspective also provides a tool for examine, but also suggest improvements to, the planning process. Since the intersectional understanding is central to the entire planning process, we mean that it must be included from the beginning. We have seen that if there, in the early planning phase, is a lack of understanding and knowledge of power structures from an intersectional perspective it creates limitations and prevent planning a equal city for everyone. Therefore one conclusion of this thesis is to stress the importance of implementing the intersectional perspective throughout the planning process, and never reduce the question of the right to the city to a sideline.
