Abstract [en]

The functionality is taken for granted when a product is purchased, but the visual appearance over time is how people will judge the quality of a product. The purpose here is to in an early stage control surfaces, to keep up with the commands that is requested. In co-operation with IKEA, a basis for a new test method for handles and knobs is being made. The standard method DIN EN 60068-2-70 is used for carrying out tests on handles and knobs to see how different factors such as artificial sweat, relative humidity and load affects the wear when a finger slides against its surface. Both digital forms and interviews have been made to bring customers expectations and use of handles and knobs to determine how handles and knobs should be tested. This results in different number test cycles depending on where the the handle or knob is placed, for example on a fridge or a wardrobe.
