This chapter is based on the report National Evaluation 2003 of the subject Religion in the Swedish Compulsory School, grade 9, published by the Swedish Ministery of Education. The result show that students in grade 9 are showing a higher rate of ethical awareness regarding questions of empathy and also in some more political issues, but they also show this in a a short term perspective. The result support the fact that students are interested in the subject religions and consider the subject to be important for them in a life long perspective. They are interested in questions of diversity and globalization and want to engage in these themes more than they have been in their education so far.
