This chapter covers current imaging modalities for the maxillofacial region. Although plain film radiography is covered, the majority of the chapter is devoted to the use of computed tomography (both conventional and cone beam CT), magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography (PET). The most appropriate imaging technique for impacted teeth, inflammatory lesions, cysts and benign tumors, and malignant tumors is discussed.
