Artikeln argumenterar för att framväxten av gruppspecifika kulturarv innebär en utmaning för idén om nationella kulturarv, men att konstruktionen av arbetarlitteratur som kulturarv också innebär ett utmanande av de hegemoniska identitetspolitiska diskurserna inom forskningsfältet "heritage studies". Dessa argument presenteras dels teoretiskt, dels i form av en analys av hur svensk arbetarlitteratur betraktats som kulturarv.

The main argument in this article is that the emergence of group-specific literary heritages constitutes a major challenge to the notion of national heritage, but that the promotion of working class literature as heritage also challenges the standard conceptualisation of the politics of heritage as identity or recognition politics. This argument is first presented in theoretical terms, and thereafter illustrated by an analysis of the politics of the promotion of Swedish working class literature as heritage.
