Abstract [en]

The purpose of this article is to contextualize qualitative phenomenological psychological interviewing within the research tradition of psychology as a human science and how it relates to a phenomenological psychology. Qualitative interviewing is also historically contextualized within humanistic psychology and the qualitative research movement. A reply to a recent critique by Zahavi and Martiny (2019) is also included. In addition, some recent developments of qualitative phenomenological interviewing are accounted for and how these relate to the method of participant observation and Schutzian phenomenology.
