Abstract [sv]

Sammanfattning Författare: Pontus Assarsson Handledare: Torbjörn Andersson Högskola: Malmö Universitet, Institutionen för Lärande och Samhälle, Idrottsvetenskap Syfte: Syftet är att diskutera det moderna gymmet som fenomen samt förklara och förstå fenomenet utifrån svensk och internationell sociologisk forskningslitteratur. Metod: En systematisk litteraturstudie användes som metod för att svara på syftet. Sökningar utfördes i databaserna ASSIA, SPORTDiscus, SAGE Journals och Sociological abstracts. Funna artiklar (15) kvalitetsgranskades och analyserades. Resultat: Resultatet visa att stora delar av forskningslitteraturen använde sig av fallstudieforskningsdesign med etnografiska och kvalitativa insamlingsmetoder. Till detta visa resultatet att flera forskare kommit att använda olika systematiska sociologiska teoretiska analyser där Pierre Bourdieus kapitalbegrepp och George Ritzers McDonaldiseringsprocess ofta användes. Abstract Author: Pontus Assarsson Advisor: Torbjörn Andersson University: Malmö University, Institution of Learning and Society, Sport Science Purpose: The purpose is to discuss the modern gym as a phenomenon as well as to explain and understand the phenomenon based on Swedish and international sociological literature. Method: A systematic literature study was used as a method of responding to the purpose. Searches were carried out in the databases ASSIA, SPORTDiscus, SAGE Journals and Sociological abstracts. Found articles (15) were quality-reviewed and analyzed. Results: The results show that large parts of the scientific literature used case study research design with ethnographic and qualitative methods. In addition, the results show that several researchers have been using different sociological theoretical analyzes where Pierre Bourdieus capital concept and George Ritzers McDonaldization concepts often are applied.
