Syfte: Att studera effekten av laserterapi som ett tillägg till icke-kirurgisk parodontal behandling gällande förändringar inom fästenivå (▲CAL), fickdjup (▲PD), and bleeding on probing (▲BOP) hos patienter med kronisk parodontit. Studien kommer inte inkludera patienter med aggressiv parodontit. Metod: Granskning utförd av två författare. Specifika MeSH-termer användes för att begränsa sökresultaten från två elektroniska databaser, PubMed och Cochrane Central Register of Controller Trials. Studierna och artiklarna med högst relevans lästes sedan och resultaten jämfördes för att se om det övergripande resultatet skiljer sig från 2008 studien. Resultat: 26 artiklar identifierades i den inledande sökningen. Efter att ha granskat titlar och abstrakter uteslöts 12 artiklar. Återstående 14 artiklar lästes i fulltext och analyserades för att bestämma relevansen. Slutresultatet var 8 inkluderade artiklar i denna studie. Slutsats: Parodontal behandling med subgingival laser som ett tillägg till scaling och rotplansinstrument (SRP) förbättrar inte behandlingsresultaten signifikant jämfört med behandling med enbart rotplansinstrument hos patienter med kronisk parodontit. Dock behövs fortfarande ytterligare studier för att nå en rättvis slutsats.

Aim: To study the effect of laser therapy as an adjunct to nonsurgical periodontal treatment in terms of changes in CAL (▲CAL), PD (▲PD), and BOP (▲BOP) in subjects with chronic periodontitis. It will not encompass aggressive periodontitis. Method: Review performed by two authors. Specific MeSH-terms were used to narrow down the search results from two electronic databases, PubMed and Cochrane Central Register of Controller Trials. The studies and articles with the highest relevance would then be read and the results would be compared to see if the overall result is different from the 2008 study. Results: 26 articles were identified in the initial search. After reviewing titles and abstracts, 12 articles were excluded. Remaining 14 articles were read in full-text and analysed to determine relevance. Final result was 8 included articles in this review. Conclusion: Periodontal therapy with subgingival laser as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) does not significantly improve the treatment results compared to treatment with SRP alone in patients with Chronic Periodontitis. However, more studies are still needed to reach a proper conclusion.
