Abstract [en]

This thesis aims to investigate the impact which A/RES/67/19 has had on discourse within the UN in the form of resolutions and press releases in the years 2010 and 2016. The findings indicate a positive trend towards the recognition of the state of Palestine within both the UN resolutions produced in 2016 and in the wider sense in press releases from that same year, with international recognition of Palestine as a state. Self-determination is one of the founding principles of the UN and holds a place of high regard within the UN charter itself. Attitudes and contribution to discourse in regards to this issue is of central importance to conflict resolution and state recognition on the international state. The purpose of this these is to exemplify the strong and far-reaching influence the UN has and the importance of consistency of discourse produced by this body of global governance.
