Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Trade with carbon dioxide allowances was introduced in the EU on the first of January 2005. The purpose of this report has been to describe that trade, but also to investigate how the trade with carbon dioxide allowances affects a company. We have described the history of Swedish energy consumption, which international obligations are the base for the decision to introduce trade with carbon dioxide allowances and also how the trade with carbon dioxide allowances with its regulatory framework has worked as a control instrument in limiting carbon dioxide emissions. To reach our objective we have done quality interviews with employees at E.ON´s different divisions in Sweden. We have also used E.M. Rogers´ theories on how innovation is received by different members in a system. Our investigation has shown that the duties that trade with carbon dioxide allowances generates are spread out to different sections of E.ON Sweden’s organization. As a result trade with carbon dioxide allowances has not completely been integrated into the organization.
