Title [sv]
Lära i samarbete i det globala klassrummet: Peer Learning som en pedagogisk modell i sjuksköterskeprogrammet
Title [en]
Collaborative Learning in the Global Classroom: Peer learning as an educational model in the undergraduate nursing programme
Abstract [sv]

This project is a joint collaboration between the Institute of Care Science at Malmö University and the School of Nursing at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. ""Internationalisation at Home"" is a concept that allows students to participate in the international exchange without leaving their home universities. Given the logistic and financial constraints, not all students in higher education will be able to travel overseas for their international and intercultural experiences. Therefore, the project will focus web-based educational activities, that is peer learning and critical friends seminars, to enhance undergraduate and doctoral students' experience of internationalisation, understanding of nursing and nursing research in a cultural context, and to develop reflection and critical thinking skills. Thus, the project is educational to its nature, and the research questions need to focus the intended outcomes. For the undergraduate part of the project some of these questions are:

  • What will be some of the implications from internationalization at home that can enhance the traditional overseas student exchange program?
  • How does this approach enhance student's decision-making process from their self-reporting and their collaborative action plan in patient care?
  • How does the learning of unknowing facilitated through this learning process of internationalization at home that brings about students' awareness of the taken-for-granted assumptions and learning to be open as attributes for future graduates in their collaboration, teamwork, communication and continuous learning from the unknown?
