For undergraduate nursing students clinical educationis of the utmost importance facilitating preparedness for professional work. Karlstad University and the County Council of Värmland have since the year 2000 collaborated on the development of clinical education in securing a preceptor model of high quality. Over the years, the preceptor model has been refined and developed. The next step is the implementation of a Clinical Education Ward (CAW). CAW implies a clear focus on student learning and learning in collaboration with others. CAW means that common pedagogical models are followed, which provide increased opportunities not only for student learning, but also to develop preceptors and preceptorship.
In this project we want to investigate how the learning environment of students is influenced by the educational models peer learning and patient-focused supervision. The study ethically reviewed and approved by the local research Ethics committee at Karlstad University (Dnr C 2017/831).
